Meet a Quality Control Analyst

Quality Control Analyst DFE PharmaCan you tell us a bit about yourself?
My name is Jacqueline Ludewig. I am 33 years old and live in small village near Nörten-Hardenberg, Germany. I did my apprenticeship as a biology lab assistant from 1998-2001 at the Georg-August-University of Göttingen, Germany. After my education I worked in a research lab at the Medical High school of Hannover. Early 2008 I started working for DFE Pharma as a Quality Control - Analyst.
In which DFE Pharma location are you currently working?
I am working for DFE Pharma in Nörten-Hardenberg, Germany. In Nörten-Hardenberg the primary focus is on Direct Compressible (DC) Lactose. In 2003, DFE Pharma has set up a manufacturing line for spray- and roller dried DC Lactose. In 2005 a new line was built for agglomerated lactose. Our working environment is always friendly and occasionally also challenging. Due to the fact that we are working together as a team, we are able to tackle these challenging times.

Could you tell me something about your current position at DFE Pharma?
I am working as a Quality Control (QC) Analyst in the QC-Lab of DFE Pharma Nörten-Hardenberg. The primary role of QC is to test whether products meet the product specifications and to perform stability studies. Product consistency is important for the customer because it ensures that the patient receives a constant quality of product. In my current position I analyse and coordinate the stability studies of our wide range of products. Furthermore, I conduct many different tests on our products to determine their chemical and physical properties.

What is the best or most enjoyable experience you have had, working for DFE Pharma?
For one new method I had to travel to France for two days together with my manager to meet a customer. It was very exciting to work with one of our bigger DFE Pharma customers. We spent two instructive days in the QC-Lab of the company, where we learned a new method for turbidity testing in lactose solutions. For this, we had to make use of their Turbidity meter in order to calibrate the Turbidity meter and to make the right lactose solutions. A very good experience!

How would you describe DFE Pharma as an employer?
As an employer DFE Pharma is taking the best care of its employees. DFE Pharma is a truly global player and is always trying to create a safe and pleasant working environment. Because of its internationality I get the opportunity to meet colleagues with a huge variety in cultural backgrounds, which creates an exciting work atmosphere.
